- On Saturday, September 22 at 5:00 P.M., we will held the first annual Northwood Heights BLOCK PARTY. There was fun for all and many chances to meet and greet your neighbors with free hot dogs, drinks, and all the trimmings. It will be even better next year! Look here for pictures of the big event.
We gathered at the west end of Skyline Drive near Landa Lane. Skyline was blocked off, and there were games, contests, and prizes for kids. Firemen and an engine from Dallas Fire Rescue and a Police K9 Unit presented interesting information. Kids climbed on the fire truck and tried on firefighter's gear, while everyone got to meet some of the police and fire department personnel who serve our neighborhood.
Kids especially enjoyed the bounce house. For images of the event click above or here.
- REGULAR MEETING
Our regularly scheduled meeting was held on Tuesday, October 16, at 6:30 P.M. Although the speaker from WalMart was not able to come, we were kept informed about City doings by our District 10 Councilman, Jerry Allen.
More details to follow....
- SECURITY NEWS
Our Crime Watch chairman, A. Petrin, has obtained all the materials and installed signs on aluminum poles, trees and fences throughout our neighborhood indicating that you should "Smile---You're on Camera".
In addition, you may have noticed the signs stating that all "Activities are Monitored by Video Camera." We believe these signs help deter criminal behavior throughout the neighborhood.
Presbyterian's security cameras project has been put on hold, but Alliance members are independently installing video cameras. These will add an important element to our efforts to protect our homes and families. The entire neighborhood will be more thoroughly covered by completion of the Presbyterian project
A few signs are still available to members of the Alliance. If you are currently a member, to get your sign call (972) 238-6297 and leave a message. We should have enough signs for all current members.
- STREAMERS
When you see colorful orange streamers attached to our signs, street signs or telephone poles at the corners of the neighborhood it means for residents to call our "Hotline" at (214) 261-5370 for current information about meeting reminders, reports of burglaries and other crimes that we should be aware of, suspicious behavior, and other events of significance to our neighborhood.
- RECYCLING

- Everyone in our neighborhood is again urged to participate in the "Too Good to Throw Away" recycling program.....It's paid for in your water bill. If you're not using it, you're losing it! The program is easy to use, and most users find that they have much more recycled stuff than they would have imagined. For more information and to order your Blue recycling cart, call 3-1-1 or visit the city's website at: www.dallascityhall.com
- GARAGE DOORS
Please remember to keep your garage doors closed. Many of us have experienced thefts even when doors were open and the grarage unattended for only a few minutes. Also remember open garages give dangerous access to your house for home invasion.
